About the icon block
Icons are simple symbols that attract attention, aid navigation, signal an action, add emphasis, or provide feedback. Icons serve as recognizable cues that users can understand easily — typically without thinking too hard.
Icons must be used consistently across a site or service to accomplish their purpose. For example, using an envelope icon for email and a mailing address likely confuses people. Viewers should be able to trust that a certain icon always means the same thing, no matter where it’s used.
Usage
We use The Icon Block plugin by Nick Diego. The plugin registers a single, easy-to-use block that allows us to add custom SVG icons and graphics to the WordPress block editor.
Icon libraries
The plugin ships with nearly 300 icons. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, we recommend using SVGs from FontAwesome, Heroicons or Lucide.
You can also register a custom icon library when needed.
